    Norman Darwen,  Blueprint

"The man can sing! EB Davis can just as easily tackle a Roy Brown number as he can a James Brown. He has a slightly jazz-inflected way of riding the rhythm that brings to mind the great Bobby Bland."

Mike Stephenson about Amsterdam Blues Festival, March 24th and 25th, 2000

"One of the revelations of the festival was singer EB Davis [...]. His support team, "The Superband", comprising six musicians including brass were a very tight outfit. EB's a showman and some more. He has a commanding stage presence and he took control of his band and the audience from the outset.(...) He used his vocal chords to the maximum and his dancing all over the stage led into a highly enjoyable set. He interspersed some of the high energy numbers with some intimate slow blues. English promoters need to be aware of this man and his band as he would show many how to do it right."

    Berliner Morgenpost

"EB Davis is an elegant classic Blues singer with a powerful voice."

    Bill Dahl, Living Blues

"EB Davis harbours plenty of songwriting talent. He has soul to spare."

    Playboy, USA

"Real black pearls from a golden throat of the Blues. That is a good description of the Blues of EB Davis."

    Rocking Forum Budapest, Hungary

"Good Time Blues that is never boring. That is EB Davis!"

EB Davis & Jan Korinek's Groove, "I write the checks", 2001 Faust Records-FR23-2331
    CD Groove

by Doc Piltz, review date: July 2002, presented by The Blues Foundation

"EB Davis, he has been described by Living Blues Magazine as being one of the true "sweat men" of the blues; giving it all up for the audience every time he takes the stage. On the 2001 release of I Write The Checks, EB Davis teams up with a tight blues combo from that "blues hotbed," The Czech Republic, to assemble one great record. Clearly, in this collaboration with Jan Korinek & Groove, EB Davis puts his three ingredients of good performance; "Look good, entertain and, most important of all, sound good," in a package that is certain to do its magic on any lover of the blues on the smooth side."

by Michael Roberts, 2002, "Give it to Mikey, he'll play it"

"You folks who are dancers or DJs who play for them you'll find something that will work coast to coast. You folks who sit and toe tap, well you're not going to be disappointed either. My personal favorites are track 1. Entitled "The Weaker Sex", it's an easy shuffle that clocks in at 120 BPM. It catches your attention due to the catchy hook line paired with EB's solid vocal performance. On the other end of the spectrum, track 3"Come Back Baby" is Jump Blues as it clocks in at 132 BMP with atypical stutters and pauses that add to the flavor of this tune.On the "Give It To Mikey, He'll Play It Rating Scale" this one is no less than a SOLID A. Why? That's easy! The Reasons are diversity of product, quality of performance and quality of mix/engineering. [...] So save yourself some time go to their website and order it. EB Davis & The Superband, "Live at Yorckschloesschen", Vol.2
    Yorck 2

by Doc Piltz, 2001, presented by The Blues Foundation

"Live at Yorckschlosschen, Volume 2 is a great live recording by a singer who should have a much greater following on this side of the Atlantic. With a tight band and great vocals by EB Davis, the band really gets into a groove and creates a great recording that is well worth owning by lovers of soul-blues."
