Hello again everybody

19/06/2003

Even though we are in the middle of hard times now (thanks in part to the T€uro) there are still some good things happening and if we all hang in there together, they are guaranteed to get better. Some recent good things: Nina and I had just celebrated three years of married life, we will play the 'Soultrane' (Kantstr, Berlin Kreuzberg) for one week (1st - 5th July) - hope 10.000 people will come, then Nina will celebrate her birthday 11th July in 'Vollmond' (Oranienstr. 160, Berlin Kreuzberg). Hope to see you all there.

Take care,
EB

I just had a very interesting encounter I would like to share with you. I recently did a festival in Komarno, Slovakia (yes, they have bluesfestivals, too) and the band playing before me had a drummer (You say - So what!!? Most bands have drummers ...). But this one was a bit different. He was only 5 (five!) years old! And he could play. I was amazed, just as the rest of the audience. The Blues has a future!
On another subject, I recently had festivals to cancel me because I'm American. I find that very sad. For me as an artist, for the music itself, and most important of all for the fans. Because I, just as the majority of artists, has absolutely nothing to do with the political situation that we find ourselves in.
Oh well, hope to see you in Berlin, 28.05.03 at Badenscher Hof. We will chase the Blues away - right into father's day.

Take care, EB

You know, being on the road as much as I am gives me a lot of time to think.

As I was returning to Berlin last week I was trying to think of something worthwhile I could say about the nonsense that is happening right now. But it comes down to this: The ones that make the wars are not the ones who have to fight them.

So we, as the normal people have to stand together as people. Hopefully we can effect some changes.
We need the Blues. It is one of the sensible things we have right now.

Take care, until next time.

Well, here we are again, back from the 8th annual Mustique Blues Festival.
Just a few words about Mustique island in the Caribbean. The Bluesfestival (by the way the only Bluesfestival in the Caribbean) was founded by St. Vincentian Basil Charles and singer Dana Gillespie to raise money for the Basil Charles Foundation which supports scholarships for needy children in St. Vincent. The proceeds of the festival and the sales of the CDs go directly to the foundation and we are proud to have been a part.
A live CD is recorded every year and can be ordered through the foundation.
Mustique is a fantastic island where the rich and famous have their abodes (like Mick Jagger - but no - we didn't get any gig offers with the Stones...). It was a great experience but we are glad to be back to the reality of the Bluesworld.

In the month of march I will be doing some concerts in Potsdam, Czech Republik, Slovakia, Poland and the end of the month doing a concert in stilwerk Berlin on March 29th with the Superband.
Hope that all of you out there is well and in good spirits. Talk to you soon. Give the Blues a listen to.

We would like to wish everyone a great year 2003. 2002 was a very interesting one for us as we had concerts in America, Switzerland, Holland, Austria, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and a few other places. Thank you and the Blues for making it all possible. We finished 2002 by playing four concerts in Spain.
We are now off to the island of Mustique to do several concerts and then we will return to Berlin in Febuary to do the Junction Bar, Ratskeller Koepenick and the Soultrane.
It is a priviledge for me to be able to keep you updated on what is going on. Glad you looked in and we will be talking to you again next month. Don't forget: Support your local neighborhood Bluesmen (and women too!).
